Cascadia Ecotherapy is an online therapy and in person ecotherapy practice located in the foothills of the Cascades in east Lewis County, Washington.
I offer a welcoming and accepting space for healing and working out life's kinks. I support each of my client's unique goals and needs with compassion and empathy.
About
Cascadia Ecotherapy is a private practice owned by myself, Angelina Bowen, a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in the State of Washington. I am also a Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor which allows me to supervise both interns and associate therapists working toward licensure.
I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Health Psychology from Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA where there was an emphasis on Complimentary and Alternative Medicine approaches to mental illness, including incorporating ecopsychology. During my time at Bastyr, I completed a year-long ecopsychology informed practicum working with youth at Wilderness Awareness School in Duvall, Wa.
I then completed my Master of Arts in Psychology degree at Antioch University Seattle. I trained in clinical psychology from a family systems perspective. I completed my internship at Cascade Community Healthcare in Centralia, WA in their Child and Adolescent Program. I was then hired as a psychotherapist in this program and remained in that role for 5.5 years. During that time I became licensed as a marriage and family therapist and then trained to become an approved supervisor. I was then promoted to WISe clinical supervisor (Wrap Around with Intensive Services program for youth).
Currently, I am expanding Cascadia Ecotherapy; a small private telehealth and ecotherapy practice located in the foothills of the Cascades in East Lewis County.
Using a family systems and eco-systemic approach, I take many factors into consideration in my treatment philosophy. Not only am I curious about current events in your life, I also take into consideration adverse childhood experiences, family culture, and the health of one’s current living environment; both indoors and outdoors; at work and at home. I meet my clients where they are at with compassion and nonjudgement.
My preferred approach to therapy is to incorporate nature as an ally in healing and growth. This is an approach we can talk more about during your first session if you are interested in experiencing this type of therapy.
Additionally, I assess client’s self-care practices at the beginning of therapy because incorporating elements such as good sleep hygiene, a healthy diet, moderate exercise, and spirituality are crucial to increased mental wellness and resiliency.
Furthermore, I am certified in CBT+ for trauma, depression, and anxiety. I am trained in teaching DBT skills, mindfulness practices and parent management training. I am also trained in Complimentary and Alternative Medicine approaches to mental health. I hold the belief that the mind, body, and spirit are connected and equally important in order to maintain health. I provide information and skills practice from this approach when appropriate.
I therapy sessions, I often incorporate an eclectic mix of several theories depending on the needs of the client.
Please feel free to contact me and schedule a free 15 minute consultation session to see if I am the best fit for your needs.

Ecotherapy
Ecotherapy can be defined in a variety of ways. Basically, it is taking therapy outdoors in order to reap the health benefits of being outside in a natural environment. Just standing outside in nature can decrease anxious feelings and increase those feel-good chemicals in our bodies. Ecotherapy can be individual or group therapy. It can include walk and talk therapy, mindfulness in nature, grounding exercises, processing thoughts and feelings through movement and voice and more. Ecotherapy is proven to be an effective treatment modality for many mental health concerns. Currently, Cascadia Ecotherapy is offering two weekly 2 hour ecotherapy groups. One group is for woman only and the other group is for our LGBTQ+ community in Lewis county. Both groups will be held on public lands in East Lewis County. Please contact me for more information if you are interested in joining either one of these groups.
Supervision
I am a Washington State approved supervisor for therapist associates. I currently offer a monthly 6 hour Saturday supervision group over zoom. I am also available for individual supervision. I take a humanistic approach to supervision and tailor the content to the needs of the supervisee. Feel free to contact me by phone or email to see if I will be a good match for you.
